The Dean of Students Office reviews requests to send mass e-mail messages to current BYU students in collaboration with the University Webmaster. Since students are our primary constituents, our objective is to provide them with helpful, necessary and timely information. Mass e-mail messages are sent out infrequently in order to ensure that BYU students do not receive large volumes of unwanted mail. Mass e-mails are approved based upon the guideline of the need for every student to know about and benefit from the information included in them. The process for requesting that a mass e-mail message be sent is as follows: 1. An e-mail is sent to the Dean of Students office giving the reason for the e-mail, a contact phone number or e-mail address for the requestor and/or the person giving approval and a copy of the message in the exact format in which the requestor would like to have it sent. 2. The content of the message is reviewed, measured against the guideline, reviewed with the University Webmaster and a decision is made. 3. The requestor is notified as soon as possible of the decision. . |
