Emergencies and Accidents
If a student is in an emergency situation or accident, the Dean of Students may be contacted for assistance. The Dean of Students Office can inform professors about the accident, and in the case that a student decides to discontinue from classes, the Dean's Office can help connect students/family with housing, financial, meal plan, and other services. Assistance for family, legal guardians, or conservators is also available in the case of a current student death through the Dean of Students Office. Click here for more information.

Informing BYU of a Current Student Emergency or Accident
If you become aware of a student who is experiencing a medical emergency or accident, the Dean of Students Office can help. Any of the following information will help expedite contacting the student:

Assistance In the Event of an Emergency or Accident
The Dean of Students Office provides multiple services for students who have experiences an emergency or accident. These services are intended to help a student address the specific needs resulting from their emergency or accident. Some of these services include:
- contacting professors to inform them of the current situation
- notifying the student’s bishop
- assisting with the process of requesting incompletes if the student is unable to return to school
- connecting students with helpful campus resources (advising, accessibility, Counseling & Psychological Services, etc.)
